My name is Helen Schikkerling and I am the Leadership Coordinator for CISV Vancouver, and this year, I am walking the BMO Vancouver Marathon on behalf of the Josh Platzer Society for Suicide Prevention.
This organization is very dear to my heart as the Platzer family has been close supportive friends to my whole family for 20 years! Josh was childhood friends with my brother, Ben and Jude have often been surrogate parents to me! The Platzers are also the reason why I am involved with CISV, an organization that I am so grateful and passionate to be working with!
I chose to walk for suicide prevention because I believe in the amazing work that the Josh Platzer Society does, and I truly agree that silence kills! Greater awareness and less stigma are our best chances for lowering the suicide rates for youth in our society!
So please join me in supporting the Josh Platzer Society, sharing their story and spreading the message! Talk to your kids, talk to your friends – save lives!
